Green Impact is proud to be partnered with and sponsored by a range of excellent organisations. We’re truly grateful for their continued support, helping us to deliver Green Impact in the most far reaching and effective way possible.

NUS ethical and environmental department

Green Impact is just one of several programmes championed by the E&E department of NUS. As part of our shared five year strategy, we turn students’ unions into hubs of sustainabilty, influencing not only their parent institutions but the wider communities around them, as well as installing green habits within students which thrive, and influence, for a lifetime.

Student Switch Off is a inter-halls of residence energy saving competition, encouraging students to reduce their levels of energy consumption. Prizes for effective engagement include Ben and Jerry’s ice cream, or an end of year party – incentives which mean the scheme achieves a 15% level of engagement from all students in halls of participating institutions, and a 6% drop in overall energy consumption.

PrintStudent Eats
supports institutions across the UK in cultivating their own student-led growing sites. As more and more students become interested in growing their own produce, as well as being conscientious of the ethical and environmental impact of their food choices, Student Eats is a great opportunity to grow, eat and share food which is organic, nutritious, fresh, local, low-carbon and – most importantly of all – delicious.

Snap it Off was created in response to concerns from students about how much energy is being wasted through unnecessary lighting. When a student spots a light on in an empty room, or in daylight, or just too many lights, they can simply take a photo, send it to Snap It Off and then check back later to see  if the energy wastage they spotted has been resolved. One entry a month wins John Lewis vouchers.

Green Gauge is a research package designed to aid universities in achieving key HEFCE emission reduction targets through understanding the impact of environmentally-friendly student and staff attitudes and behaviours, as well as feedback on existing university environmental schemes, impacts and longevity through surveys with staff and students.
